Meet the founders.

Nasreen and Hasan Askari have been collecting textiles for over fifty years. Nasreen began the collection in 1972 and spent over five decades discovering and documenting textiles in the region. She is also co-founder and director of the Mohatta Palace Museum in Karachi and the author, co-author or cataloguer of six books on the arts of Pakistan.

Nasreen Askari’s books are widely acknowledged as the standard reference work on traditional Pakistani textiles. Her publications are now regularly used by all three international auction houses to authenticate items on sale. In this respect, she is instrumental in establishing a tradition of rigorous scholarship for publications from Pakistan.

Hasan Askari is a trustee emeritus of the British Museum appointed in 1997 by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
