17 December 2024 – 3 November 2025
Our inaugural exhibition, scheduled to open on December 17, 2024, explores the diversity inherent in the textile traditions of Sindh through a display of 65 objects. Diversity is a theme that the Haveli will return to from time to time as we believe that all societies are an amalgam of a number of influences and that the fusion of disparate sources and skills makes for a more stable and inclusive society.
Over 1000 magnificent objects spanning Pakistan’s vast cultural topography, as well as select examples from Kutch, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Parts of this collection have been exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, and the Paisley Museum in Scotland. Objects from this collection have also been published abroad in 1997 and 2019.
The Haveli collection is internationally recognised as having met standards of quality and documentation that would be acceptable at any museum and its collection of textiles from Sindh is regarded as one of the most definitive in the world.
